FOR THE ONE WHO CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

A Star for the Pet Who Crossed the Rainbow Bridge

The bridge we cannot prove. The sky we can. One star stood over them the moment they left — and it is still there when you look up.

If you call it the rainbow bridge

You do not have to believe in a bridge to miss them. But if that is the picture that helps, keep it — and take this as a direction to go with it: the real star that stood above them at the hour they left, still there on the nights you look up. A tribute for a dog or cat who crossed the Rainbow Bridge can be as simple as somewhere real to look.

Chosen by the moment they left, never at random

Enter the date, time and place they said goodbye. We compute the zenith of that instant — the point directly overhead — and from the HYG catalog (107,838 real stars merged from Hipparcos, Gliese and Yale) return the real, still-unnamed star nearest that point. The same inputs always give the same star, and the coordinates speak astronomy’s common language — verify them in any sky-chart app.

What you receive

A star record with traceable IDs (HIP / Gaia), J2000 coordinates, distance and spectral type · a 3D return to the sky of that final night · a downloadable certificate · and a memorial space that is private by default. One tier — Digital Star ($19.99, delivered digitally).

Pet certificates carry a rainbow-bridge arch, drawn for pets only — a small thing, but it is the part many owners frame and place beside a photo.

When the nights come back around

The day they came home. The day they left. The first birthday without them. A star does not wilt or fade — on every one of those nights it is still the star that was overhead when they said goodbye. Their memory keeps shining in the night sky, in a place as real as they were.

Giving this to someone who lost a pet

A pet’s death is often a grief the people around the owner do not treat as real. A grief comfort gift that takes it seriously lands hard for that reason. You need the pet’s name; the date and place help, and the time is optional — and the free preview shows the sky before anything is paid for.

Questions people ask

My pet crossed the rainbow bridge — can I still do something for them?

The rainbow bridge is one of the kindest pictures people have for where a pet goes, and if it helps you, keep it. What we add is a direction to go with it: the real star that stood above them at the moment they left, so there is somewhere to look on the nights you miss them. The naming is a memorial gesture, not an official registration. The star and its coordinates are real either way.

Is a pet star naming official?

No, and we never say otherwise. There is no official star registry, and the IAU — the only body that officially names celestial objects — does not recognize commercial naming. What is real: the star itself, from the HYG catalog, with coordinates anyone can check in a sky-chart app. You are naming a memorial, not buying a scientific designation.

Do I get a physical framed certificate?

No — the certificate is a digital A4 PDF that you print and frame yourself. Pet certificates carry a rainbow-bridge arch, drawn for pets only, and many owners frame it next to a photo. Nothing is shipped, which is part of how the price stays a single tier of $19.99.

Will I be able to see the star with my own eyes?

It depends on the star’s magnitude, which your certificate states. The star is chosen for being nearest the zenith at that moment, not for being brightest, so some are faint and need binoculars or a dark sky. Bright or faint, it sits at exactly those coordinates.

Is this a good grief comfort gift for someone who lost a pet?

It is one of the few gifts that treats the loss as real, which is why owners tend to keep it. A pet’s death is often a grief the people around the owner do not treat as serious; this gift does. You need the pet’s name; the date and place help, and the time is optional — the free preview shows the sky before anything is paid for.

We can’t tell you where they are now.

But we can show you the star that was above them when they said goodbye.
